PROJECT

This is a hypothetical design for a culinary institute in downtown Portland on the corner of NW Park Avenue and NW Glisan Street. The current site is parking lot #102 and belongs to the City of Portland. I designed the institute in the ZigZag Moderne style of architecture as many of its adjacent buildings were built with similar influences in the 1920's and 1930's. I felt that it was important to integrate natural daylighting into my design  this building would primarily serve an academic function. The building's main feature is its staggered atrium, surrounded by the school's culinary classrooms, library, offices, and rooftop restaurant.
